Data Control in Healthcare

Modern business success is based on the ability to capture, organise and process large amounts of data. In healthcare, navigating through the data and using it to improve patient care is no small task. The amount of data generated by healthcare facilities is immense however, it’s largely ignored due to inefficiency and a lack of tools to effectively manage it.

Data control is the process of protecting and managing information throughout its lifecycle. This requires processes to ensure the accuracy and consistency of data, as well as providing security for sensitive information. Effective data control also allows for audit trails and monitoring of usage of data to ensure accountability and find weaknesses.

Data Control gives you a an overview of your network’s file systems. It finds files containing Personal Identifiable Information and displays them on a dashboard with their location on computers within your network. Indexed files are uncovered and classified in real-time starting from data at rest (files stored on the file system) and data in use (operations carried out on the files that have PII), and data in motion (data exfiltration).

Data Control offers a variety different access control models depending on the kind of data you wish to manage. ABAC for instance, grants access based upon attributes and environmental conditions like location and time. This model allows for greater flexibility than the role-based access (RBAC) model that grants privileges to users and objects.
